Introductory Notes
There will be 2 Captains and 2 Vice Captains, (a boy and girl of each)
- All students selected would be from Year 12, 2006. (Year 11, 2005)
- Selection will be by formal application and interview.
- Applications are for Captain (ranking after the interview process will establish Captains and Vice Captains).
- There will be a six member selection panel comprised of the following:
- College Principal
- Assistant Principal
- Senior School Coordinator
- Senior School Assistant Coordinator
- Two Representatives of College Captains Team 2005.
Role Description
The primary role of captains will be to represent the College outside the school at official functions and to represent students at internal College events. They would also be expected to provide leadership and be excellent role models to other students.
Key Selection Criteria
Applicants must address all Key Selection Criteria in their application. Applicants must demonstrate fulfilment of the criteria through explanatory reference to examples.
- Willing to make a serious commitment and give time to the task
- Able to communicate with students effectively - confident public speakers, and effective listening skills.
- Able to demonstrate that they have the respect of the student cohort
- Able to demonstrate high levels of maturity. Able to provide an effective link between students and the College administration. Able to demonstrate an capacity to work as members of the SRC. Each Captain will be a mentor for a team leader in of the 4 SRC Teams: Key Issues, Publicity, Fundraising, Student Leadership.
- Able to demonstrate their capacity to manage the workload - high level of organisational skills.
Timeline
Announcement of the following years captains would be made at Presentation Evening each year. This would include the presentation of blazers. The selection process will take place in at the start of term 4 each year.
Applications addressing the Key Selection Criteria must be in writing to the Principal with a covering letter and Curriculum Vitae. Applications should be no longer than 3 pages in length (not including CV and covering letter). Applications close: Monday 3 October, 1.30pm. Submit to General Office in an envelope. Enquiries: Mr Moore (Executive Officer of College Captains Panel). A short list of applicants will be established. Interviews will occur: Wednesday 5 October, 2005. Initial announcement of successful applicants: Friday 14 October, 2005 period 2 assembly.
