Greensborough College prides itself on a strong sporting reputation in our local area and have had great success over the years in a variety of sports. The College’s interschool sport program provides fantastic opportunities for every student to compete in sport and develop skills both on and off the sporting field. In the interschool competitions, Greensborough College competes in the Banyule division and the Northern Region against local schools. Interschool sport provides students an excellent opportunity to explore new sports they may never have played before and also gives them a chance to represent their school in the wider community.
Representing the College’s sporting program are our two Year 12 Sports Captains. These two students work closely with the Sports Co-ordinator and Student Leadership Coordinator to help organise and run the various Round Robins throughout the year as well as attend District Sports meetings and carnivals. The Sports Captains help to organise sport sign ups and announce results at various whole-school assemblies throughout the year.
Greensborough also participates in the Australian Olympic Council’s Pierre De Coubertin award program, which allows schools to nominate students who have represented an Olympic sport at a high level as well as displaying the Olympic values. Successful students are invited to the MCG for the awards ceremony held on International Olympic Day on June 23rd.
There are a wide variety of sports on offer throughout the entire school year. These are listed below-
TERM ONE-Cricket, Swimming, Diving, Baseball, Softball, Tennis and Volleyball.
TERM TWO-AFL Football (boys and girls), Soccer, Netball, Badminton, Cross Country and Athletics.
TERM THREE-Basketball, Table Tennis, Futsal and Hockey.
TERM FOUR-Volleyball and the next year competitions in Baseball, Softball, Tennis and Cricket.

Greensborough College’s sporting teams and outstanding individual performances are often recognised in the College community through newsletter articles, award presentations at assemblies as well as recognition at the end of year Presentation Evening, where the year level Sports Awards are presented.
