School Wide Positive Behaviour

School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is an evidenced based framework that brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures.

When SWPBS is implemented well, teachers and students have more time to focus on relationships and learning. Students and staff benefit from:

  • increased respectful and positive behaviour
  • increased time focused on learning
  • improved social-emotional wellbeing
  • positive and respectful relationships among students and staff
  • a predictable learning environment with improved perceptions of safety and increased attendance
  • improved student attendance
  • decrease in suspensions

Teaching expected behaviours

College staff teach our safe, respectful and responsible behaviour expectations to our students in an age and context appropriate way. You can find out more about our behaviour expectation by reading our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Matrix found below in the related downloads section.

Reinforcing expected behaviours

College staff verbally reinforce positive behaviours and issue Positive Behaviour Merits. Students can then exchange their positive behaviour merits for exchange items.
